QUARTZDEK is a performance polyurethane resin, aliphatic isocyanate-based, that cures upon reaction with atmospheric moisture, giving hard and flexible coatings with good abrasion, scratch and weather resistance.

QUARTZDEK has been developed from proven technology used extensively in Europe during the past 25 years for the renovation of balconies and terraces. These areas are often considered to be our ‘private retreats’ where sunshine and relaxation can be enjoyed. However, the constantly changing climate together with mechanical wear and tear can soon turn our pleasure into a nightmare.

Moisture formed as a result of rain, snow or frost can penetrate the substrate of the floor through cracks in the surface or poorly formed joints and consequently through adjacent walls and ceilings of balconies below.

The effects of this process can be quite devastating with the damage which dampness can cause internally not to mention the structural deterioration caused by corrosion of steel reinforced bars and balustrade

Application of QUARTZDEK to balconies and terraces will not only prevent damage and deterioration as described above but will provide an aesthetically pleasing environment for your benefit.

Description

Application

Ensure that the temperature is above 5 degrees and the surface is thoroughly clean and dry
Apply QuartzDek sealer to the entire area at a coverage of 32m2 per 5ltr tin
Allow 1-2 hours drying time
Apply QuartzDek resin ar a coverage of o.5m wide strips
Sprinkle QuartzDek granules abundantly into the wet coat at a coverage of 3kg per m2
Allow drying overnight
Finally, apply QuartzDek resin to the entire area at a coverage of o.5kg per 1m2
Allow drying overnight

Slips that result in falls are the most common cause of major injuries in public areas; costing millions of pounds in compensation claims every year. One of the biggest causes appears to be wet or poorly treated surfaces which can be particularly dangerous to the elderly.

QuartzDek from Acrypol is an advanced slip-resistant floor coating that is helping to reduce the risk of falls on public and private walkways across the country. The secret behind QuartzDek is the real quartz granules which are applied over a super-tough flexible resin, all sealed and bonded together with a final layer of resin. QuartzDek can be used over concrete, cement, asphalt and even quarry ceramic tiles.

The systems high BRE rating indicates that it has extremely high slip resistance in both wet and dry conditions, it can even be applied in low temperatures. QuartzDek takes a matter of hours to dry and can be applied without any disruption to the building, meaning occupants can carry on as normal inside.

According to the Health and Safety Executive slips and trips are the cause of 40% of all reported major injuries and can also lead to other types of serious accidents such as falls from a height. Preventing slip accidents is critical because the injuries are frequent. Therefore, using a proven non-slip surface on stairs and other floors has led to QuartzDek becoming more and more popular.
